It's GSP! It looks like it's a sponge. If you don't like it or it starts killing the GSP, pick it off. If they live together in harmony, leave it alone.
I never seen anything comes out of it. I can see it only with the GSP is retracted. I had this GSP since it was couple of inches, so the animal must have been there since then.
