Howdy all.
i have a 180g (6x2x2). i have 3 x 250w reeflux 12ks in lumenbright 3's. i want to put in some actinic supplements and was wondering what bulb / ballast combo you would do and why. i have room for 2 x 60" vho's. i looked at the ice cap 660 but it makes sense to me it operates at 440w no matter what and will over drive the 140w lamps. thanks for all your input.

I use UVL pure Actinic as well as 454 to supplement my halides. I like the look of both bulbs, the 454s are very blue and the pure actinics are like black lite purple. I like the pop of the pure a a actinics much more than the 454. They make everything glow!!

+1, I have found the Ice Cap ballast hard to beat.

im running 2 54w pure attinics by giesman powered by an advance ballast and it does the job, along with two 250 phoenix lamps.

I also use 250 reeflux but run 10ks right now. 12ks are a nicer blue but the par values from the 10s are hard to beat. I power them with individual coralvue ballasts under lumenbrights.

Mine is a standard 90 gallon. I supplement with 2 110 watt super actinic vho's powered by an icecap ballast. Under just actinics, the colors do pop. However, when the halides are on, they are completely drowned out by the power of the halides.

ice cap ballast with 2 vho 60" bulbs is what I run. One true actinic and one 454. Love the color. adding the 454 really makes the red and oranges pop. the actinic brings out the greens/ yellows.
