All new fish were dying and I realized it was him. He would also pick up and move some frags almost killing them. I almost made a diy spear gun to get him out. He also attacked me everytime I put my hand in the tank.
I started feeding him with a large trout net and he eventually got comfortable and swam on in!

I haven't had a bunch of fish yet but my worst one thus far is my spotted hawkfish, great personality but he's very aggressive towards other fish and bullied my clowns badly(my male was only 3/4" if that) so I was worried about the hawk eating him, so I put a divider up to separate them(the tank was a 30g). I have upgraded since then and he now lives in my sump with a predatory snail, a starfish and a decent sized crab. The clowns are still a little nervous about other fish because of the hawk but they have nearky got used to the orange-back fairy wrasse and the firefish.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I had a good sized blue throat in my 120 for a while before my velvet outbreak and he was a model citizen. Just goes to show you how unique personality is to each individual fish, especially for a fish as intelligent as a trigger.

My occs. Used to bite me every time I put my hands in the tank. They stopped however when I started hand feeding them. Not sure if that was the cause or pure coincidence, but they no longer look at me as a threat when I'm working in the tank.

Hmm for me toss up between a neon wrasse that after about 4 yes decided any small fish it could eat it would and I didn't catch it until I literally saw him eating the side off a large sailfin..other biggest mistake was a Kleins butterfly for aptasia control. After about 3 months he had cleared half the aiptasia. He then decided he would rather have coral...any coral.. he did not discriminate.... I ended up having to pull about 600lb of rock to catch them and decided to pull a couple more and restock with some new choices. One of those was a "reef safe Lamarks angel". Turns out not so reef safe so about 6 months later I broke down the 600lbs of rock again to catch some fish. Recently my large male scotts fairy wrasse decided to harass everyone. I got lucky and thought he had died but he apparently Free Willy'd into my sump somehow. So he will be for sale soon... noticing my small powder blue is being a bully now... probably be easier for me to list my nice fish.....

Seen a few of these guy's in friend's tanks, and have been tempted to get one myself (either that or a peppermint), but after doing a bit more research decided to steer clear. Despite being noted as the "most peaceful" of the hogs, a hog is a hog. Thanks for your input :fun4:

Wow, that must have been a surprise to see :uhoh3: I myself have got a zebra moray, and for the longest time had the very similar cherub in with him and they both ignored each other. Stories like this are the reason I created this thread, thanks for sharing :fish1:

Oh geez :facepalm: Sounds like you've had your rounds of quirky fish. I have female spotbreast angel in my 120 now and so far she's been a model citizen, but I know with really any fish, there is some degree of risk involved. Was your wrasse a Halichoeres garnoti?

It actually want the reason I did it... I was having nutrient problems at the time (650 mile move will do that...) And to try and minimize waste I was hand feeding them so they got all the food.
By the way... Tearing down, Moving, and setting back up a saltwater tank that far in one day, along with a uhaul with all your belongings is no fun. Lucky that it was only a 28 gallon tank and only had one loss.
