What will change the colors?

I have read that mantis will change colorsfor their environment. If this is accurate what things effect it? If I keep them in a dark(sump) area will it still change?

Diet, spectral quality, and intensity of light, background color, and ontogenetic changes. Some species are very plastic, others change little.

Search for color change in this forum. I've posted quite a few comments on color, particularly with N. wennerae.
