What would you do?

What would you consider a proper diet? Right now he is getting frozen mysis and sally's seaweed salad on a veggie clip. He won't eat flake food and I haven't tried any pellets. If anyone could recommend a good tang food I'd love to hear it.

What you are feeding is fine, what I should of said is soak food in vitamins and selcon to help with the fin recovery

First of all, kudos for saving that fish. I did the same thing with some dying yellow tangs from petco, and sadly their fins never grew back completely. I believe if there's significant damage to the dorsal spines there's not much you can do, with all the vitamins in the world. Here are some before/after pictures of the yellows:

The top yellow recovered more than the other one, but the spines grew in warped and bent.

And then the one on the bottom:

The sailfin's damaged fins are looking permanent, but he has a story :) Looks beautiful and healthy to me.

had a similar problem - sailfin got savaged by a jewel damsel, which I was able to remove during a tank move. now, a year later, its sail is growing back, along with some other damage.
keep him - you saved him.
thanks for serving.
