More and clearer pictures would help, ideally with white light or flash.

Do you use activated carbon? It has been shown to cause HLLE, especially the cheap carbon.

To me it doesn't really look like HLLE.

What is the timeline this showed up?
Is it spreading or does it stay like this?

I would probably for now take the carbon out.
If you want to use activated carbon you should only use high quality pelleted carbon and rinse it very, very well.
When placing it into the filter make sure that the pellets aren't tumbled by the water flow as the resulting abrasion will create the micro particles that are responsible for the carbon caused HLLE (there is at least another one caused by poor nutrition).

Ok ill take the carbon out. it showed up over the course of a week or so with it spreading quickly then appearing to stop spreading all together.

they are currently being fed on dried flakes should i add anything to this?(lfs told me to feed flakes)

While there are some good flake foods, most are not the ideal main food for reef fish. A variety of frozen foods is better. Cyclops, Calanus and Mysis are the best. Brine shrimp should be limited for various reasons.
Cyclops, Calanus and some other foods can be found freeze dried. Those are still better than flakes and a bit more convenient.
There are also some decent pellet foods for marine fish.

How does the fish behave? Any signs of discomfort?

the fish has been alright for the past few days but he is sticking lower in the tank than he usually would for a while then goes back to his normal position, what about soaking the foods in garlic? i heard that helps

At best garlic does nothing else but increase the fish's appetite. Though some studies have shown that it may actually damage the fish's liver.
I personally would never add it to my fish's food or feed them any prepared foods containing it.

If you want to boost the fish's overall health and immune system you may soak his food with Selcon.
Another additive that may actually work is Beta-1 3-d glucan

ok, ive got some selcon on order so hopefully that will come in soon, as for the frozen foods ill pick some up today. fingers crossed this works. thanks for the replies
