Look past the algae!! :D I'm referring to the bright orange spots. When the actinics weren't on the base had a sort of grayish/green look and the spots were just as bright orange. The orange spots don't look like polyps, just little dots. Any thoughts?? And for the record, I don't have any other coral in my tank that look like that, if it is in fact a coral.

I have 4 different types of chalices. Don't know the scientific names but I do have 'em. And I guess now that you mention it I do have a green chalice with bright orange eyes. Its the one that I almost recently lost after I found my large devils hand dying.

Could it have "spawned" in an effort to save it self because it was dying?!?

Do you have any Sun Corals? Over the last few months I've seen exactly that type of orange dots everywhere. On my rocks, my pumps, on and in my overflow. Hi flow areas. Well lighted as well as dark. Same thing with a fellow reefer buddy of mine. I started feeding them, and low and behold, I've got a bunch of new Sun Corals. One of them went from a spot the size of a grain of sand to 5 pea size heads within a week!! I'm laughing, eh.

Hmmm....I do have one small sun coral. Never would have thought that what was growing on my pump could be a sun coral.
