I have a squamosa clam . Roughly 6"-7" . I noticed in one side he has 2 tube looking things growing out of the shell . Looks almost like feather duster tubes or similar but are hard like the shell . And about 3"-4" away from it on the same side there is this mouth looking thing that actually opens a little bit and shuts sometimes . And the mouth is long and narrow . Looks similar to a clam shell with no mantle . What is this ?! Starting to worry me . Also the clam releases some very long brown strings daily. I'm not good with clams ... Is this waste ? Or something else ?

Please help me figure this out . I barely no anything about clams ! Thanks

Here are some pics. The little mouth thing actually shuts, when I shade the light with my hand, just like a clam. Never seen this before, please help me out ! lol

Could it maybe be a mussel ? I was trying to find similar things on google , and I ran across a couple of pics looking similar to a kind of mussel ?

It's fine, and I'm sure it happens all the time. A lot of people don't notice. In the wild, bivalves attach to any & everything. I've had a few like that over the years on various rocks & frags.
