What's in Arizona Water??

Has anyone done a test recently of AZ water. I'm running well over 600 ppm TDS on the input side of my RO/DI. In NY, we ran around 200 ppm. Just curious I guess.

Allen,
600 isn't bad for the valley. There are times of the year in Chandler where we hit 800. At my previous house I dealt with it, at the new house I put a softener in. I feed my RODI with soft water and I'm about 220 now after soft, 650 before soft. I'm looking forward to the extended life on my filters.

I'm in N Phx, not too far from you and mine are at around 450-500, slightly higher during summer +\-50. Does seem like I burn through filters pretty quick.

Brad,
Is your new place in chandler? That's a big difference, I'm consider soft water unit in our new house as well! Would save me a tremendous amount of filters!

I'm in Chandler... it changes almost daily. A few months ago I installed my MaxCap, and was in the 850-950 range. Last week I was getting around 250. Chest checked today, and my input is about 500. At 3 months old, my sediment filter is brown, and I don't think I've produced much more than a couple hundred gallons.

Its mostly minerals that harden the water( calcium and magnesium) I live in Gold Canyon the TDS levels average between 600-900ppm. Just part of living the desert. Its worse in the summer

True I believe that because of the summer heat more chlorine and chemicals are added as well

My water in Gilbert is roughly 350 during winter and 500 during summer. I built a triple membrane 7 stage RO to extend my DI resin to over 3-4 months now

I think that for most reefers, multiple membranes are way overkill. According to Spectrapure, my 90 GPD membrane should last a couple of years with proper maintenance. I do water changes of about 20 gallons every two weeks and evaporate about 12 gallons per week. So, basically I use about 1000 gallons of water per year. At least per my TDS meter, I run about 500-700 incoming about 5 after the RO and 0 at output. According to Spectrapure, I can expect about a year out of the new high capacity DI cartridges.

West Side Avondale my water is horrible. My water softner broke and my tanks look awful 2 months later. I too have 4 pre filters and 3 DI canisters. Will post a picture later. Unit sayd TDS 0 but when i test it with a handheld meter always says 17 TDS. Will go test the tap water with no RODI tomorrow
