I've had this anemone a couple of weeks and up to now it's been staying inflated but the past couple of days it has deflated and looks stringy during the day..when the MH goes off it starts to inflate again. The temp is staying about 79F while the MH is on...is it getting too hot for it? The mouth is closed except in the last two days there are two small areas where I can see white pieces of the mouth poking out. Otherwise, no signs of degrading or breaking up. It has not moved since I placed it in the tank either.

When is the last time you did a water change? As anything fluctuated recently that you are aware of?
W/C was 2 weeks ago..I have been changing about 30gallons at a time...Reef Crystals salt and distilled water. I just ordered another bucket so it should be here Friday I will do another change then. Tonight the anemone's mouth is tightly shut but there is a mixture of inflated tentacles and some "stringy' ones. Mostly inflated though. The only difference would be that some water has evaporated so I may have let the salinity drop too low with topoff. Right now before adding any more topoff SG is 1.025 exactly. The only other thing I have been doing is dosing Kalkwasser..I add 1 tsp to 1 gallon of the topoff water....let it set a couple of hrs and add slowly....I guess I should invest in a gravity dosing pump...I've been adding about a 1/4 cup at a time. Does your alk and CA have to be monitored closely when dosing it? I usually check it once a week but I can do more frequently if necessary. Oh and I forgot..I did add Magnesium crystals yesterday (Seachem dissolved in a cup of distilled water).
