Whats the best return pump for 600G/H

cwegescheide

YOU have been ignored!
I want something ULTRA QUIET and no heat. External Preferred.

I know you guys got some of the lifeguard feeders in. I want to put together a decent order to save on shipping ;)

Hey Chris, how have you been!?

The velocity pumps are going to be te quietest out there, however you do have to deal with the heat from them. You might consider looking at the Red Dragon Mini 25M3 or 35M3 as well. You can run them either submersible or external, however they are designed more to be circulation pumps rather than pressure rated pumps. They are extremely durable, and run pretty darn quiet to boot. The last one to take a look at would be either the PanWorld 40PX or 50PX. You are going to get the most noise of the three I recommended with this one, however it is still fairly quiet. I run one at home, and have been happy with it for a few years now.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy! I've been doing well, trying to get over a bit of a cold though. So how have YOU been? So are you back with PA or still doing your own thing? Glad to see your still around.

Yeah I would like to have a return pump that was quiet enough so that I could only hear the water running down my return. I know it might be a tall order but I hear those Red Dragon pumps are pretty nice. It would have to pump the water up about 4ft. Do you think it could handle the job? Or if it was just for circulation is it going to crap out on me after a short amount of time. I've got a 1" overflow, You remember that IPI acrylic 90 gallon I got from you. I'm totally redoing it. I want it to be ultra quiet. Got a new skimmer a while back and its got an Eheim pump and its pretty quiet. If it was as quiet as the Eheim and no to very little heat I'd be happy. I think I've got a Pan Wold 150 PS - 90W now. Its gotta be a quite a bit more quiet than that.

Good to see your still around. You know that SPS tank you had in your office is still one of my favorites I've seen. :)

Take care Jeremy. Your gonna have to come down and go flats fishing with me. I know a guide thats really knows where the fish are. Caught a ton of big Snook and several Tarpin last time out. Even ran over a Manatee! lol

Talk to ya later,
Chris

Hey Chris,

I'm doing good. I will be back to working full time at Premium Aquatics on 12/1. I'm very excited about it, can't wait!

The 35M3 is probably the way I would go to be honest. Once you figure in your head pressure, the 25M3 is probably going to be just a little too small for you. If the 35M3 is a little more than what you want you can always turn it down a bit with a ball valve. Durability will be there, without a doubt! The quietness and lack of heat will be exactly what you are looking for as well.

The smaller PW pumps are actually pretty quiet. Once you start getting into the larget models with the fans, they really start to get loud then.

My family and I will be down in FL right before Christmas, but it's going to be a quick whirlwind 4 day trip though. Maybe I can get back down that way and do some fishing with you sometime in '09, sounds like a lot of fun down there!

Jeremy

Hey your coming back full time!! Great news! Well when you get a chance, come down and go fishin. Its a good time.

Alright I will give you guys a call probably next week or so and order the 35M3.

Have a good one. Good to have you back.

Chris

He of course has to go through the initiation/hazing process we implemented while he was gone before he is "Official" again.

I better check to make sure Jason got the new first aid kits in. ;)
