What's up with the new XM 400W bulbs?

I just received my order which included two 400W XM 20K bulbs. My old XM 400W 20K bubs fit into my LumenBright pendants without any problem. However, the new ones have this huge bubble in the middle that prevents me from inserting the bulb. The pendant has the glass cover on the bottom so there is no easy way to insert this bulb other than to dissassemble the entire fixture would be a real pain considering my pendants are permanently attached to my hood. Do you have any advice? I haven't fired the bulbs yet and only tried to insert them into the pendant.

I went ahead and took off the front three panels, removed the glass, and installed the bulb. Everything came apart and back together without too much trouble. I think everything is OK now but that was a shocker on the bulb size change . Thanks.

XM most likely changed the manufacturer of the lamp in China would be my guess. Those "bubble" lamps have been around for quite a few years now, but only recently did XM start to use them.
