What's within reach of the little ones?

i've had a few little visitors. we pull chairs up to the tanks and they are invited to sit and watch the fish. but, they have to sit on their hands. :)

I was recently mounting a webcam on my tank and my 3 year old grandson (that loves to help gumpa fix stuff with the tools), decided that we could get better pictures of the fish if the camera was inside the tank…

HAHAHAHA this was a great read! When I built my 75 gall stand, my father and I built it to be high enough that I wasnt wiping prints off and to help keep my boy out of the tank. He was 1 year then, now hes 9 and has 2 little sisters. Thankfully the only hitch i have had is my 4 yo daughter taking the lid off the top off barrel to play with it! lol Although I ahve to almost stand on a ladder to get in the tank< and im am 6'3, It worked out, have lots of room under there for tall skimmer and other goodies!

There is a Display Lock on the Apex that will keep people from messing with it if you haven't found it yet.

From the display:

System -> Display Setup -> Display Password

Use up/down and left/right arrows to set the password and then hit Done.

You can't do it from the web interface. It has to be done from the display.

That is so helpful! It will be more important for me in the upcoming years.

We got a two year old running around here that has the uncanny ability to open things she isn't supposed to open. :rolleye1: So the "childproof locks" on the cabinets are replaced with a lock that uses a key.

I moved my sump to the basement, everything down there is on a tall stand. Locked the controller and all plugs under the tank.

I am trying to follow r-balljunkie's approach and get him involved, he is only one so he only helps me feed the fish for now.

My friend had a 200 gallon reef full of chalices and favias while he was gone on work vacation for a week and while he was gone the house cleaner thought it would be a great idea to poor a bottle of cleaner in the tank so it would smell better 12000 down the drain and at least 25 fish to the big reef tank in the sky

I simply can't believe a person would be that stupid. Did she have some reason for not liking your friend or his tank?
