I loved my female undulate, of about 4", definately had the skittish, aggressive mentallity, but, I love turning off the lights in the room, with the tank lights on, and once, she didnt think you were watching, she became very inquisitive, and entertaining to watch...

for PERSONALITY... The Huma Trigger rules... He is extremely aware what is going on in the living room and of who is feeding the tank, and will hide if anyone but my wife or myself approaches the tank. He'll even let me 'pet' him during feeding times.. He grunts and squirts water out of the tank too when he gets impatient and you're not feeding him quickly enough... VERY CUTE... AND snuggly.. highly recommended... by far my favorite fish.

I have a rectangular triggerfish. Very similar to the huma just a bit different pattern and color. Very cool fish, gets along with everyone but my hawkfish, very personable.

I agree that humus seem to have the best personality -- not only of triggers but perhaps of any fish.

I think the prettiest is a FULL adult clown trigger. When the big ones get over a foot, and all of the white on the top half of their body is gone, so that the top is completely black, they look AWESOME. Plus at that size their spikes really show up and their fins get a lot more white, sometimes with red edges. They look twice as good as the semi-adult ones you normally see with the white spots half-faded out.
