What's your 'must have' fish?

Kahuna Tuna -- my flagfin is just a little guy. You can see just how small if you measure him next to the stalk of Xenia, he's about 2.5" long. He's got an interesting history. Just under a year ago, he came into a LFS and I believe a staff member either took him home or bought him for a client's tank. The first time I met him I was working at the store and thought he was part of a new shipment, but they told me was a trade-in -- his previous owner wasn't able to keep him any more (no explanation why). I noticed he was skinny and had the beginning signs of HLLE but he was eating well, and at the time I didn't know much about flagfins but he was so pretty I had to have him. I brought him home and his eating has just been getting better and better for the last seven months. The pits in his head are gone and he has put on a lot of weight, but hasn't grown much in length; I guess he's been using all the calories to heal and fill out. He picks at the Xenia but never seems to really hurt it, and since I added all the other corals to his tank he's been essentially ignoring them. Who knows if he'll develop a taste for them in time, but if he does I imagine I'll choose the fish over the corals :D
I've decided not to try for another Potter's, losing them just breaks my heart. I have one hard to keep angel and I think I'll concentrate on keeping him happy and healthy instead of banging my head against the wall any more :)

Let me clarify what you said to make it more clear:

"I killed two potter's angels to have the fish that I couldn't live without."

Let that statement sink in for a minute....

GLAD YOU FINALLY CAME TO YOUR SENSES. TOO BAD IT TOOK SO MANY DEAD SPECIMENS OF THE EXACT SAME SPECIES FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THESE FISH ARE NOT READY FOR CAPTIVE LIFE YET BASED ON OUR CURRENT KNOWLEDGE.

Geesh, alright already, we get your point. What's up with the 'tude? Honestly, if we were to rule out buying a certain species simply because one person lost that species multiple times, I think we'd have a sorry little selection of fish to choose from. I doubt I'd have my PBT or any of my anthias. A little perspective is needed here.

Oh, and, "Holy thread resurrection, Batman!"

Ha, and I just saw the other thread....all this coming from the guy who bought garden eels :rolleye1:

my graduate school professor who i have been close with for about 6 years has been successfully keeping garden eels for about 6 years now. he is my mentor on this project and i feel his personal knowledge will help me be successful. the garden eels were from his personal collection so I did not "buy" any garden eels.

p.s. now that i re-read what i wrote it was pretty rude. i cant edit it now but I should have stated it in a more polite manner. the point behind it still remains though.

what kind of fish is this? with those teeth he doesnt look reef safe
 
That's a cowfish :) here is a recent picture of it, I have it for 1 year now and it's been a great fish in my reef doesn't bother anything, he's allways hungry thoug.

Now this is my other favorite fish not a 100% reef safe likes to eat brain corals :)
