40 Breeder (36x18x16")new reef setup using Coralife Super Skimmer 125 and 2 maxijet 1200 powerheads. I am looking at getting the mods for the MJ1200 which are said to put out 1500 gph or 2400 gph depending on the mod i get. Question is at what point do i have too much flow?

-- Xenia, leather corals, sandpolyp, lobophylia, and gorgonians for corals with a good number of shrimps, snails, handful of gobies/blennies, a pygmy angel. 50 pounds liverock, 60 lbs livesand. I do not have a sump/refugium currently.

Appreciate any help

For the corals you have I would do roughly 25-35x flow in the tank. If you had an sps dominant tank I'd do more. I have 30x turnover in my 40g mixed reef with softies, lps, sps, and polyps. Seems like a moderate amount for my inhabitants. My two Tunze nanostream 6025's do a good job for my needs. ;)

With around a 40x flow (looking at possibly getting Hydor Koralia 1 and a Hydor Koralia 4 instead of MJ1200's), Would it possibly be stressful to the livestock being a bit over the recommended flow?
