When Is the Best Time to abut Fish On Line?

(Dang iOS spell checker. Meant to title it WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY FISH ON LINE? RC doesn't allow corrections to the title apparantly).

I've never bought anything live on line, but I may have to because I can't seem to source a Possum Wrasse locally.

So I was wondering if perhaps Spring & Fall are the best seasons to make the purchase since the weather nationwide is usually in a more reasonable range, without heat waves and arctic freezes in winter.

I have visions of the boxes sitting in hot or cold trucks or airport Tarmac for hours, or on the neighbor's front door all afternoon until they get home from work. It seems the heat or cool packs could lose their effectiveness rather quickly.

Does it make a difference or increase the odds of success to time a purchase to the best weather possible? Or am I worrying about nothing?

I've received orders in almost every season and haven't had a problem. I agree with having it held and picked up at the facility. This shortens delivery time and limits the time on the truck which where I think temp problems are most likely. If you choose providers that package their livestock well you will not have problems.

All that said, summer time is the one season I avoid as much as possible. I think the hot temps are more problematic and more difficult for the shipper to prepare for than winter. I've had fish delivered in unexpected temps in the teens without problem.
