Do you use?

1. (Personal) R/O system

2. (personal) other kind of filter system

3. Purchase filtered water

4. Take chance with springfields gross water

I used to buy it, now its cheaper (in the long run) and more convenient to just get an RO/DI system

I, once upon a time, purchased water (too) or got my water from a friend with an RO-DI. The purchased water wasn't quite right. When I was running my own tank on RO-DI and a public tank on Springfield water w/ drops, my tank was just easier to take care of all the way around.

people please don't use tap water... It will make your life so much easier to use ro or di water. You can purchase it all over town.

Captain Obvious here, but clean water is important for topoffs as well as water changes.

I learned from the school of hard knocks. I started with tap water and fought algae for 6 months (BAD), switched to purchased water from the Wally World machines (BETTER), and finally bought an RO/DI system and rigged up an auto topoff system (BEST) :D

BTW, when I bought my RO/DI system it came with a TDS meter.

Tap Water (Ozark) 225 ppm
Store RO Water 30 ppm
RO/DI Water 0 ppm

I started off with tap water also :( . That was stupid; although my fish, shrimp, crabs, and starfish didn't seem to mine. I got the same system that LargeJohn did (Typhoon III from AirWaterIce) and it is the best. Excellent buy and zero TDS always.
