Was wondering some good usa suppliers of marine fish. Looking for a shop that has similar or accurate photos of the fish they sell.
I know the big ones like live aquaria but i was wondering if maybe theres some better smaller stores.

Divers Den

Liveaquaria ad Divers Den are completely different.

Liveaquaria has its main facility in California, while DD is in Wisconsin.
LA doesn't quarantine, DD does.
LA doesn't have WYSIWYG photos, DD does.
The fish on DD are generally cherry picked and are the best, and I have nevery really heard a bad review from DD. All my fish from them have been awesome, and they are pretty much one of the best places to get fish.

* LiveAquaria/Diver's Den
* KP Aquatics
* Reef Cleaners (for CUC critters only of course)

I haven't ordered from NY Aquatics or Among The Reef, but plan to in the future and have heard great things about both.

have dealt with all these guys EXCEPT among the reef. The 3 ive dealt with will continue to get my business! very professional and quality fish.

Give Jordan a try, I get ALL my fish from him and his quality is the same and most of the time better than DD. Pricing too

DD doesn't do a proper quarantine; I would call it "enhanced acclimation." Yes, they provide some medications and ensure the fish is eating well, but you should always quarantine the fish yourself. LA recommends it, even for DD fish. I agree that DD fish are generally healthier, but I've had good success with the "regular" selections from LA (drop-shipped from Quality Marine) as well. LA's main facility is in Wisconsin - the California location is actually Quality Marine.

Mostly from Diver's Den. The fish I've bought have generally been pretty healthy requiring minimal QT. Haven't really tried any of the other online shops.

I agree with all except Diver's Den does not quarantine.

I for sure will look his website over the next time I look at fish. Just upgrading from a 90 to a 300 now and will likely order some fish soon.

should I call/email him for special requests or does he typically have all available fish on line?

For fish I have had great luck with
PetSolutions
Saltwaterfish.com
BlueZooAquatics

My only complaint is the ridiculously low salinities (i.e. anything below 35 ppt) that these companies often ship fish at. I know there are arguments for doing this, its not an accident, but I still think its a bad idea -- this necessitates a longer acclimation period than would be possible if they were shipped at correct salinity.

But all are great companies with good prices and customer service. Far better prices than you'll find in many of the suppliers listed previously in the thread.

If you are using a QT, the lower salinity becomes a non-issue. Simply match the QT salinity to that of the transport bag, float to temperature acclimate for 30 minutes, then transfer the fish to the QT. Drip acclimation with livestock purchased online is not recommended due to rapid pH changes and ammonia toxicity.
