Where is the closest custom glass tank builder from Pittsburgh?

I know that glasscages.com does shipping to the Pittsburgh Airport (I think) for like $150 or something like that. I've looked at their website and they seem to be somewhat reasonable as far as I can tell...but I haven't done a whole lot of investigating into the matter.

Elmer's probably has the largest number and variety of tanks in stock.

elmers will order tanks if they don't have it in stock.i think you have to put a % down. which make sense to me

Elmers and the Seahorse will both order tanks for you. Think Seahorse generally orders from All-Glass and Elmers may from All-Glass and Perfecto. Either should be able to order you something up to the 265 gallon tanks that are made. When you say custom, I'm thinking other than standard manufacteror sizes.
Tswifty--are their glass panes themselves good. I've been thinking about building a 240 square with 4 panes of Starphire glass and a center overflow. Would Glass Cages be a good place to get that since their glass panes seem to be pretty reasonable, or do you know of anyone else who would do it cheaper or better. Obviously I'd rather do it right once at a somewhat higher price

I was specifically interested in getting a glass rimless cubish tank.
I have looked into glasscages but i have heard bad & good things about them. But after reading more into it it seems like the tank craftsmanship and quality are mostly good (how could it not? I mean that is what they do for a living and it looks like there business is doing well) but everything else is poor. (customer service, communications,delivery method, etc.) I think I'm going to give them a try eventually. If I do I'm not meeting the truck in a delivery point (motel parking lot) with 20 large aquariums in the truck and mine behind all of them, wait 4 hours in the rain. No manpower to lift tanks. That's what the reviews say happens.

The location of tempered panels depends on the tank size and manufacturer and year, etc. In other words there is no reliable rule of thumb.

I know I saw a list of which panels were tempered and not on current model tanks....but I don't remember where it was now. Was reading that polarized glasses will give off different hughs if it is tempered/not tempered and you can tell that way...but of course, that doesn't necessarily help. The store you would order it from would almost certainly be able to find out that info for you though I'd think...

You'd be surprised. I've read lots of posts where the tanks come chipped, edges aren't sanded down, tank out of square, and most common... terrible silicone jobs.
IMO it's not worth the risk... they're on the cheaper end for custom tanks, and there's a reason.
I saw a thread where a guy had a custom rimless starphire glass tank made. I think it's about 100 gallons. It looked very nice. He was from Michigan.
Here's the post... his name is SunnyX... I'd shoot him a PM and ask him where he had it made.
