Where Oh Where Can He Be?

I have just spent the last hour moving almost every rock in my tank looking for my Chevron Tang. He is not on the floor, in the sump, or in the overflow. He has vanished! He is not a small fish either, my biggest in fact (about 5 inches).

How can a fish this size just disappear? Are Chevron Tangs known to burry themselves? Should I dredge through the sand?

The Foxface and Purple Tang are enjoying the newly exposed algae. The Bangai is chasing disturbed pods. All corals seem just fine.

it could have died and been eaten by all the scavengers. i don't know much about that kind of fish, could he be hiding IN a rock? i thought i lost my skunk shrimp but he turned up a few WEEKS later!

Thanks Total.

Don't think so Lilleah, I only have small snails. Such a big fish would take them much longer to consume. Too big to fit inside a rock too.

No chance of it floppin around on the floor under somthing you havent check yet?Or any cats or dogs that may have seen him flopping around and took him for a toy or quick snack?I think there about the prettiest of the tangs too(sorry, not helping I know..), good luck:(

If you have any room behind the tank with stuff back there you may have to look very hard if it jumped back there. We lost one of our fish and somehow it ended up under the plastic mat we have the tank on.
