Where to find complete T-5 fixture in U.S.A.

heeh well i cant even find a vho bulb that fits an 18" light fixture. So I guess im crap outa luck for those on a 10 gallon tank. hmm a 175w mh sounds good for that tank =].

ATI doesn't make bulbs shorter than 2' in length. Shorter bulbs will have limited color temp choices ie probably just 6500k GE, osram or phillips bulbs. Nothing wrong with that, but you may feel it's too "yellow" in appearance.

about the triad ballasts, yes they get hot, but does that matter? I put both my ballasts inside the cabinet and put a clip on fan pointing at them. I can't even hear the fan at all because it's in a closed environment. After running the bulbs for 12 hours with the fan on, they are not even warm.

I suggest the clip on fan or ease of use and price. Like I said, I can't even tell it's running.

Madison, it doesn't as long as you don't leave it in the hood (to add to the bulb heat), and you don't burn yourself on it. Personally, I externalize all my ballasts (regardless of brand) so it's not an issue.

Helios Plug n Play 24 watt all in one fixtures??? I've good reports and a few bad ones.

Rebuttal ???

Hate to dredge up an old thread but has anyone had luck with the Helios "plug and play" bulb, ballast, and reflector in one. Are they worth the money? Customaquatic.com has these fixtures for 20 dollars.

SLS T5 Tek Light

SLS T5 Tek Light

Best price for complete lighthood is at: www.seedsetc.com If you buy the bulbs with your fixture, they're an absolute steal. Also, some guy on eBay is selling SLS Tek light at a good price too, but Seeds Etc is better.

Actually guys, The Grim Reefer (The former T5 Guru) only stood behind a few diff systems. Any with out individual reflectors are automatically out. Even some with them still dont measure up. Your best bet is to stick with something that uses name brand ballasts/reflectors. That means it uses Icecap or Tek reflectors. There are a few exceptions. Apparently Aquatinics (a sponsor here) makes a good unit that is pretty affordable. Also aqualux lighting makes computer designed reflectors that are just as good or darn close to the Icecap reflectors (the best). If you can build your own you can go with the aqualux reflectors and save some cash. Pending how deep yoru tank is you probalby dont need the icecap and infact it may just cause problems because of too much light. I have 6x54w T5 with Icecap reflectors and it is a HELL OF ALOT of light on my 75. I wouldnt want much if any more and I run SPS. HTH.

Thank you for the replys and info. Helios do have there own ballasts and individual reflectors, but the price is to good to be true...Usually if it is to good to be true it probably is not.
