Where to find...

In the next few months I will be setting up a mantis tank. I'd like either a Gonodactylaceus ternatensis or a Gonodactylus smithii. Where might I be able to buy one of these? I've checked with my LFS and they can order peacocks but that's about it. Thanks in advance!

Atlantisaquarium.net is the place.

BUT!!!!! NOBODY, with very few exceptions, figuers out what they have down to the species. The exceptions are Peacocks, TBS and their N.wennera, L.Maculata (cause its real hard to misID. an 8" spearing mantis that looks like a bumble bee), or a shop where someone told them the species that they have.
Check out the thread about what Atlantisaquarium.net has, there are a bunch of people looking for G.smithii, if you don't live near AA you are probably going to have to luck into one...

I remember that he recently picked one up at Atlantis too I believe. Might have been Aquarium Concepts but I think it was atlantis.

While I know he collects a lot of them himself, and who wouldn't want to travel the world to dive, but if someone else pulls an unusual species up why not?

Yes, the mantis he picked up at Atlantis i had a deposit on, but he needed it for research, so he gave me my O. Havanesis in trade.
