Plus ... it's just a silly policy in the first place. If I was at a LFS this week...and saw something I liked... but the owner wasn't in...and I wanted more info on it... and thought others in the club would benefit from it..they wouldn't be able to answer the question on the board..just in a PM..which is silly.

:rolleye1: In a perfect world, everyone would follow the rules out of honor and there would be no need for moderation. This is obviously not a perfect world.
It really couldn't hurt for you to read the User agreement I get the feeling you are not really familiar with our rules. Sharing husbandry information about a specific animal is in no way against any rule here.

Somehow I got this put in Keris quote when it was me who said this part. Sorry for the confusion

well put Keri-

Hence the problem with open posting and the need for RC rules. Unfortunatley people argue and things are biased one way or the other. Everyone has there opinons, which is great, but not great for promoting or advertising when in competetions with other LFS, that may or do get offended for one way or another.

Well... I'm just going by what I've seen on the boards...

For instance the user that got reprimanded when he said 'we'll frag anything' when someone asked where you could get frags...

Anyways..I think most of us have just started refraining from posting questions like that to LFS owners on here...because we don't want to get them in trouble...which is a shame...because its a good way to share the knowledge of what is avail. locally.

Understand that what you see out in the open is almost never all there is to a situation.
Someone that owns or works for a LFS posting "we'll frag anything" as an answer to "Where can I get frags?" is most certainly violating commercial posting regulations.

I don't see how that is a violation...really...

I mean someone back then asked where they could get frags locally..

He said...ask the local LFS ... we'll frag any thing...what should he have said... order them online.. when they are avail. locally? I mean that was an honest answer... all of the LFS around here will frag anything...

It's not like he said... come to my fish store and I'll frag any coral you want for X amount of money....

Anyways...like I said... because of stuff like this...it will just be better in the long run for us to have a msg board on the nfmas site..so we don't have to worry about asking questions of the LFS owners and having them answer and get in trouble...

I got a chance to read some of this thread and IMO R/C staff does have a point about where info stops and ads start.
One question to R/C staff is there a way to setup a members only part of our forum? (Like the other forum we post in).
Only problem it would be (MEMBERS ONLY) For a non member he or she would not be able to access the members only site.

As Czieler said about creating a forum/message board on the NFMAS site, no there would be no problem there.
Would it be a useful add-on? Right now I don't see that much usage of the photo gallery. At least a few have posted pics.
Another opinion of a message board there would be, all the LFS
stores are really good about posting ads once a twice a week.
But if it starts to be open to more people would outside LFS stores start using it as a advertizement area.
Who would mod it.

Possible good topic at our next meeting. Discuss if a message board is worth it. :thumbdown

That would have to be policed manually. You could imagine what we would be opening ourselves up to given that we have somewhere around 100 local club forums.
What my club did, and I guess most others, was set up a bulletin board on our private site. It does not get nearly as much traffic as our club forum here, but certain issues are just better not aired before the entire world.

George,

Well that's what most of us are doing. Posting on another bulletin board. And not just in Jacksonville. Too bad this used to be a great board. E Bornemans' move was just the beginning of it's demise.

Patrick

I hope the Reef Nazis don't get me for this one.

The "one" you were "got" for was "Reef Nazis" :wavehand:

This is clearly no longer about buying frags.
If anyone here would like to continue a civil discussion, and believes that they can do so without insults and attacks, feel free to open a thread in the feedback and questions forum
