where to place Zoas, does it like strong current?

Good morning everyone,

I am going to get some Zoas after work today and these will be my first zoas. I got a 10 AGA gallons tank with 70Watts DE MH hanging around 5-6 off of the water. For circulation and filter, I have a Whisper 40 power filter (which I leave it on minimum because I don’t think my baby clown can handle that much current). So where should I place the new Zoas? On the sand or on the rock directly below the MH? As for the currents, you guys think I have enough water movement in my tank? I have an extra MJ -900 but when I put it in there, I feel that the current is way too strong for such a tiny tank. I don’t know if Zoas like strong current or weak current.
So any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance…

when you get the zoos place them on he bottom and work your way to the middle , some like a lot of ligh some dont the power head is good for the zoos i have 2 maxijets 1200 in my 29 gal and they love the flow , just dont put it to close to them . Some else would have a different opinion , this is wht works for my tank
post some picts let us know how you make out

Re: where to place Zoas, does it like strong current?

good general rule of thumb for water circulation is a total flow of 25 times your volumn of water each hour minimium. For your 10 gallon tank that is 250 gph. The Maxijets plus yyour Whisper 40 running full blast would work great for you.

In the long run I would think about a hang on tank protein skimmer and then going to a little larger tank 20 to 30 gallons or more. At that point you can retire the Whisper and add another maxijet.
