i have a 12 gallon aqua pod with 70 watts MH light. i would like to get a nem for the tank. i do not have any fish in the tank right now. just live rock and LS. i plan on getting a pair of rare/rarer type of ocellaris clowns(blizzard, piccasso, naked clown, or something not seen everyday). i am not too sure what type of nem would host with these clowns. what do you guys think with my tank setup and what anemone do i choose? thank you

but a 12 gallon aquarium is too small for an anemone/clownfish display.
Such animals deserve at least a 30 gallon aquarium IMO.

In any case, the best bet for you in this particular case is a captive bred/ captive raised BTA or RBTA Entacmaea quadricolor "bubble tip" "bulb tip" anemone. Good luck.

bump... any other help would be great please:/
thank you for your answer tho Gary.... not many people give me the time of day to even look at my thread.

What other help do you need? As Gary stated, a 12 gallon is far too small for any type of anemone. There isn't really any getting around it unless you are fine with housing an animal in a space too small for it causing undue stress.

even if it is a very small one it will not work? i dont plan on having anything else in there besides the clowns. there seems to be plenty of room

Anemones grow, some surprisingly fast. :Lets say that you could find an anemone small enough for that tank (( and pretending it wouldn't grow )), it would be too small to host any clowns, and odds are good that they would "love it to death".

You could also have a flower anemone (Epicystis crucifer). They aren't host anemones, but are hardy, don't move much and are attractive.

I agree no hosting nem for that tank.

+1 - No nem in a 12 gallon. In any case, there is no guarantee that a clown will be hosted in a nem. Colwns will host in pretty much anything. I would try a mushroom roch or a frogspawn of some kind. These options are much better in a 12 gallon tank.
