I'm looking at these three cameras but can't choose which one to buy. Wanting it mostly for point and shoot, but also want to learn more and take good pics. The cannon and nikon are 399.00 each and the fuji is 250.00 all three are 10 mega pixal. What is the best one for the price.

The only reason I'm leaning away from nikon is because there is no audio in video mode, but fuji and canon do. Is the fuji compairable to the cannon pic wise? Looking for a good pic quality camera that will last us.

Thanks for any help in choosing.

I guess noone knows much about these cameras?

I think I have decided on the canon unless someone has a reason not to or knows if one of the others are better.

i was in the same boat as you looking for something a little better than a point and shoot camera. after reading around and thinking about it i bought the fujifilm s2000hd because of the price difference with the other cameras in the same class. even though it had some negative reviews about some things i bought it anyway. ive had it for 3 weeks now and im very happy with the camera. im glad i chose this camera. thats just my story. i hope you enjoy whatever camera you get.

If you're so concerned about video, wait for the "SX10 IS"'s fraternal twin...the "SX1 IS" due in the USA soon. The main difference between the two is that the SX1 IS shoots 1080p HD video and has the traditional CMOS image sensor as opposed to the CCD...just what you seem to want from what you have stated.

EDIT: This will of course come at a price though (no one really knows what that price will be). I would expect the SX1 IS to be double the cost of the SX10 IS though, so maybe the SX10 IS is what you want after all.

I ended up buying the sx10 is. The thing that sold me on it is the sales person at Best buy told me with this camera you can set the camera to a certain color take black and white pics and only the color you set it to will show up. I figured my wife would really enjoy that feature.

The camera is actually one of her Christmas presents. She's used to point and shoot but has mentioned lately that she want to start trying to take reall good pics and be able to play with settings, so hopefully she really like. I let you guys know how it turns out after Christmas when she starts shooting.

It's a great camera, good luck with it! In the mean time you should learn the basics of exposure, Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO. This way you will know a little about how to use the thing come Christmas day, not to mention impress your wife.

I think that most modern point and shoot cameras (certainly Canon) have that option. That said, the SX10 IS is excellent and should take great pictures for you. I'd echo the 'learn as much as you can' theme.

I think you will be happy with it. Read your owners manual and Google Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO.

check out this thread as well.

The main thing to pull from this thread is the 5.6x crop factor.
1) Notice the focal length or "mm" the lens is set to. (say 10mm)
2) Multiply that number by 5.6. (56)
3) Round this number down to the next shutter speed stop or 1/3 stop. (1/60)
4) Make sure your shutter speed is at least 1/60. If your shutter speed is too low, move the Aperture up (lower number, ex: f/5.6 to f/4) or move the ISO up (higher number, ex: ISO 100 to ISO 200) (1/125 would be even better than 1/60)
