Which clowns are less deformed? ORA or Bali aquarich?

Both are looking preeeettttty bad these days. If you can find a Bali Aquarich that was imported a couple of years ago, they looked a lot better.
I'm sure where Divers Den are getting their clowns from, but a lot of them look terrible. Check out this abomination...

Overall you're likely to find a better looking clown from ORA. That has been my experience. From local Petco to LFS anyone can order from ORA. The odds of finding a decent clown improve with a larger pool to select from.

Yeah, this is frustrating me too right now, and I'm really wanting that perfectly colored and shaped pair, and so many do not see to know what that is.
I see pics now and then from Clownfish depot, and that is where I got my last male from to match w/ the female I got from Eric (Coralsaddiction) and I made sure to ask for good shape, it had really nice markings but a very slight underbight, but mind you I am extremely picky in this area, most probably would not have noticed, but I would at least check his site, I know he has a number of them available right now
My Donisreef picasso's were perfect, too bad she's not breeding anymore, that set the bar pretty high for me.

Ya I picked up a pair of ORA's from Divers Den a few weeks ago. Was really excited to get them but after receiving them, the larger one has a flared gills and looks grumpy all the time due to a bad overbite. Disappointing... those pair will go into my secondary tank...
Thinking about picking up a P1 or Nebula picasos from bali aquarich though... their coloration is awesome but not sure how their heads will shape...

I haven't seen any nebulas with the true nebula splotching on both sides. I wish someone could lock down the pattern because they are stunning.
I think you can still find nice Bali Aquarich P1s, you'll just have to sift through them. Same goes with ORA. I can't imagine all of them being bad.

I would also still give clownfish depot a try as well, I know he has several species of breeding pairs and he was a good guy to deal with, and I've seen some pics/vids of his new list, some very nice ones, I'm just dead set on a Jigsaw pattern like my first doni female, and since my tank is still too new for a mag I'm taking my time to find that magic pair, their out there!

Yup, except that I don't know of any lfs around here that bring in WC anymore. All I see are designer clowns, which really aren't my thing.

Maybe explain what you are seeing as not correct.
Not everyone has the experience or knowledge to differentiate a good form vs deformed specimens.

The short snout/flat face is the biggest issue with this guy. You never want to see a clown that reminds you of a bulldog. That would also include an underbite where the mouth is curved upwards.

Lol the large Picasso I got last month has the bull dog look... I described her as being "grumpy" look but bulldog is much more appropriate .

There are multiple designer variants found in the wild, Picasso and Onyx being the most common for the most part. Very few people import them though. Another option is a less inbred variety like Spotcincus or something like them, or just a rare species.
The body shape is not too hot either.
I thought ORA was the worst offender of the big companies, is this not true?
Whatever happened to breeding fish with overall quality rather than focusing designed "traits" and even worst hybrids. Why focus on pattern when you can't get the body shape right first? Oh, that's right, someone is paying big money for culls, lol
At least cull the ones with deformities, I just want a clownfish that looks like a clownfish.

I don't know who the worst offender is among ORA, S&R, Proaquatics and SA.
It would probably require buying hundreds, if not thousands of clowns, long term from each hatchery to make that conclusion.
ORA might have earned its reputation, whatever it is (good or bad), due to the fact that they are probably the most widely used hatchery. Lots of fish stores like to order from them because the company offers corals for sale as well as clams. Their clowns also get a bigger coverage through DD than any other hatchery.
Perhaps ORA got too big for their own good.

Last frag swap I was at had a bunch of clowns from Sustainable Aquatics that looked pretty good overall.
I'm lucky, my LFS sells clowns bred at the local university, all of them look excellent since profit isn't the main motivator for them. Got a tiny misbar from them. They don't do all the patterns, this was just a lucky find.
