Which damsels can/will host an Anemone?

Would any of these 3 be likely to host a BTA??

Fiji Blue Devil (Chrysiptera taupou)
Blue Velvet (Neoglyphidodon oxyodon)
3 Stripe (Dascyllus aruanus)

I know a 3 stripe is in the same Dascyllus fam as the Domino, I have seen tha Domino damsels will do it.

I had a 3 stripe do it in a tiny 5g nano with a condalactus... wasn't expecting it and thought it was so cool.

None of the above mentioned species associate with anemones in nature. The domino damsel and one other very similar species which name escapes me right now are the only non clown species in tropical waters that form such associations. The other species is very similar to the domino and may very well be just a geographical variant of trimaculatus.

That being said some cardinalfish such as banghais will seek shelter amongst an anemone's tentacles. Also, certain hawkfish such as the flame hawkfish will nestle closely to the bases of the magnificent sea anemone (magnifica).

I've seen pics of domino's in nems in the wild, and my green chromis took residence in my own nems till my maroon chased them out.

Thank you guys so much. :)

I've been just trying to weigh my options of what to do with my Green BTA. (A guy I know has a GORGEOUS Red BTA that just had a 3 way split. I MAY get one of them.) The fish I listed are in my smaller fowlr tank.

Is a 65g too small to have a green and red BTA together? I've read that multiple anemones of the same species can be housed together, but not sure of the tank size.

i think it would be hard to get a damsel to host an anemone, but you might find a damsel that an anemone might host though.

In a 65g it would be possible to have a red and green BTA IMO, but just be aware that might absorb all space in that tank and make it tough to have any corals, or at least corals other than say zenia or something that can handle their sting.
As for damsels accepting host from them is hit or miss.
It took years before my chromis finally went into my nems, and I was sure they were about to become nem snacks when they did.
I do think certain damsels can at least adapt to them, or at least deal w/ stings, but not sure what species that would all be included in being able to do this.

That's really interesting...I'm surprised your maroon put up with them!

Oh that eventually changed as it usually does when clowns mature, which is too bad, cause I liked my chromis going in my nems.
I even had 2 very large nems at opposite ends of my 180g, and she chased them out of both.

+1 maroons Nightmare ... but the only damsel im sure about is the Domino But thats why you experiment and be sure to post pics if you try ;)

Thanks!! :) If I end up doing it I will definitely post pics. Especially if one of them DID host it!

I am planning on upgrading my 20g to a 30-40g hex before I would move it in there. (a hex fits better in the area its in anyways!)

I'm not sure if a damsel will host an anemone but I know that an anemone will host depending on species ;)

I had these for 7 months before they became a super aggressive pair but loved to lay in the BTA. I bought them from PIA

Here they were with my latz clowns

Why !

Why !

I'm not sure if a damsel will host an anemone but I know that an anemone will host depending on species ;)

Why does everyone say that and who started that rumor. Ex. You have friends over for dinner ( you are the host ). You give your friends food and the go home.

Clown picks an anemone to HOST. The clown sits with the anemone and brings food etc. and protect one another.

If you have multiple clowns and anemones the clowns will LOVE one anemone over another and take care of it.
