Please read up on reproduction of bubble algae. They reproduce by rhizoids and cell division.
There is no evidence that the bubbles are pack full of spores ready to multiply when rupture.
Also when when an animal eat bubble algae, they first must cause a rupture of the bubble. They cannot eat the bubble whole
The poking of it I don't believe does much in terms of release of spores. Maybe when large. But the fish don't eat it whole, when they bite they rip and smash it, yet it goes away. I think this is more a wives tale, but possibly some truth if the algae is at sexual reproduction state
I can put an aptasia, bubble algae, and tube worm infested rock in my tank and between the butterflies, angels, tangs, and the foxface it's picked clean overnight

If they are that good at eating it, are they:
hungry?
eat any of your corals or anemone?
My copperband BTF ate all the aptasia.
Foxface, angels and tangs took care of any algae in the tank. If I don't feed them for a few days (out of town without tank sitter) the angels bother my T. gigas. Once I start to feed them again, they are be fine.
It's just a phase. It'll generally go away on its own, with tank maturity. I'm usually relieved to see it, as an indicator hair algae has had its snit and is done.
Generally its going away coincides with some fish arriving to eat it---which convinces everyone the fish solved the problem.
Patience. Get your chemistry to match mine in the sig line and that may help.
How long does it take for the bubble algae to go away?
My tank is 5 years old. I had turf algae pop up like the plague when my tank was 2 years old. I installed a Turbo turf algae scrubber 3 years ago, turf algae vanished in display and bubble algae took its place - EVERYWHERE.
My algae scrubber continues to produce algae, in addition to the bubble algae in the display. It NEVER stops.
