Which MH bulb to choose

I just got my 20" sunpod and i wanna change the buld buts theres a 14k and a 20k, wats the differents between a 14k and the 20k is it just more brightness?

14 and 20 K are both pretty blue. The 20 is more blue than 14. As the numbers get lower, they get closer to yellow. They also tend to make things grow faster (coral, plants, algae...)

I am running a 14k phoenix bulb and I am happy with it. I haven't used a 20k but have see one, a little too blue for me. But it does bring out the colors more.

I'd go with 20,000K

IMO.


Colors of coral are much more vivid.

Less algae growth because it's farther from the red side of the light spectrum.

14k is the best imo great growth and a good look all in one. ive run 10k and 14k. i wouldnt go upto 20k till the corals in my tank grow out much more (large colony sizes) cause all that blue will be wasted on mostly just sand and rock. think about it.

I'm running Phoenix Hexarc 14K, and I only have my actinics on before and after the halides come on. The 14K gives me plenty of blue.

I run the same bulb in my 150W 20" sunpod and the color is awesome.
