I don't exactly know why people still argue over which is better. It's pretty obvioius both aren't the best but JBJ and those other "CubeMasters" are the worse. I am fortunate to live very close to the resellers of JEBO, Odessea, JBJ etc. Their stuff is CRAP! i mean we know its cheap, chinese knock-offs that use sub-standard parts and materials. Granted Aquapods are made in china too, they're distributed through an "American" company so their standards have to be better. They have UL listed parts and components but i bet you only 1 or 2 pieces are UL listed. I feel so bad for customers who buy those JEBO tanks from these places, expecting a good deal, but only getting a really poorly made tank. Seriously anything made by JBJ and JEBO and any other affiliates shouldn't be purchased. They're dangerous too. How many reports of fires and meltdowns are on this forum alone? I warned my LFS about them but they didn't heed my warning until after everything they sold came back, sometimes burnt. Pay the extra money and get a nicer set-up. It will cost less in the long term cuz things will last longer if you pay a little more. I don't have experience with Oceanic, but they do have a good rep and i'm sure they'll make sure its maintained in their new cubes.
I have an AP24 and its not the best, but it works and its a whole lot better than JBJ and Cubemasters. It may run a little hot, but the material feels nicer even and things just work better. Junk the stock pump and you're ok for basics. And if you're an advanced hobbyist you'll know what to do anyways to fix it up. I just feel bad for beginners who buy a bad tank and after a series of events are one of those people who label saltwater/reefs as very difficult and too much hassle.
Obvious its more than my two cents. But i see more of these tanks than most people do and i know how they're made and distributed because i'm in such close proximity to the source.
thanks guys.
