Which pump for filling tank?

I'd like to upgrade the pump I've been using to mix my saltwater with one that will be strong enough to pump the water about 4' feet vertically back into my tank. I'm looking to go the cheapest route I can since this is the only thing I'm planning on using the pump for. Also, I don't want something that's going to have such a strong flow that it'll blast my sand and everything all over if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :fish2:

I have a mag pump that I got for cheap. If you are looking for cheap look at harbor freight and lowes. Sometime you can find pond pumps for reasonable.

There's a harbor freight about 5 minutes away from me. I never even thought about looking there. Is a mag pump a brand?

Danner mag pump is the brand. There are alot of cheap 30$ and under pumps that will do what you want, its not going to look very pretty in the tank as a power head though.

I use a mag18 to move the water from the basement fish room up to the DT in the living room. It could be faster but works well enough. A mag9 would probably work well for you

I use a mag 5 for mixing and filling my tank . my fill hose runs from the garage to the tank , its about 30' and it puts 25 gal. Back in the tank in less then two minutes . you should make yourself a PVC pipe that hangs over the lip of the tank with a 90 on the end so when you fill the tank back up it won't stir your sand bed up .

Wow that's fast!
