Which pump ?

Hello ,

I am building a 75 g sps tank and want to have one strong main pupm
with no powerheads or wave makers inside the tank.

I already have 3 x 1" return holes.

Which pump would you suggest. The return holes are 2 x 1/2". Will you loc lines pipes for this.

I need a strong and silent pump that will provide plenty of flow.

Awaiting your thoughts guys.

Is this a closed loop system? Or is the water supply through the sump? Theoriticly your return pump should be the least gph in your system

But if you don't mind, try out the wave line dc pumps, connect it with a apex and control the flow for a swell type!

Hey thank for the reply, its water supply thro sump. Its the only means of water flow in the tank.

consider using a sea swirl with jaebo dc pump ( jaebo is nice since it is adjustable, hard to go wrong). I would really consider using a additional powerhead, like jaebo for wave action possibly a rw8. If you get a additional powerhead you will not need the seaswirl. Jaebo is inexpensive and works well.

You would need to move a lot of water through that sump to not have powerheads in a sps tank. My concern is that the skimmer would not have adequate contact time. Just a thought, hopefully someone will chime in with a solution, not having the bottom drilled for a closed loop will make it challenging as the corals grow...
