Which skimmer would you suggest for my ~200g System? It will be a reef tank w/ primarily SPS corals.

-Also please tell me why you chose the skimmer.
-Again if you chose "Other" please tell me which you would suggest.
-If those skimmers are not equivalent (E.G. maximum tank size to be skimmed), please post the equivalent of those skimmers. *If this is confusing, sorry lol, it sounded good in my head.)

Main tank is 150g:36"x36"x27"
Sump: 30-40g

*The reason I say ~230g System is because I plan to add a frag tank down the road, and would like the skimmer to handle that extra ~40g of water or so*

The tank stock will be as follows:

- Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus strigosus)
- Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus)
- Pair of Lamarck's Angelfish (Genicanthus lamarck)
- Trio of Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon meleagris)
- Pair of Onyx Percs (Amphiprion percula)
- Starry Blenny (Salarias ramosus)
- 20 Threadfin Cardinalfish (Apogon leptacanthus)

Thanks,
Steve

Well, so far 4 people voted, but didn't really tell me why they would choose those skimmers. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,
Steve

if it were me i would get either the msx 250 or the econo cone, but have you considered any of the msx cones? the msx 1a would be a great fit as well. also i would look into the coralvue huricone skimmers, the cat1 internal would be a nice fit as well.

I am in the same boat as Sajbchs. I was set on the BK mini 200 but now think its going to be too small. I am currently considering the BK supermarin 200 or the ATB 1040.

Come on guys let us know what you think!!!!

Have you looked at the I-Tech skimmers? I have an ATB Medium I've had about a year or so. I just got the I-Tech for another tank I have. I am soo impressed with the quality and performance of the I-Tech. Best of all not nearly as expensive as the ATB Econo. You can also totally disasemble the skimmer to clean it. Something you don't get with the Econo. Its american made and built like a tank. You can go to www.i-techskimmers.com to check them out. I posted a thread a while back showing the I-Tech running side by side with the ATB. For your size tank I think you'd want an I-Tech 200.

I can't seem to find any info on the MSX 1a on marinesolutions, could you point me in the right direction?

I'll read up on those i-tech skimmers.

I myself and leaning towards the new BK Cone, the ATB Econo Cone 1050, and if I can find it somewhere that MSX 1a cone.

Thanks,
Steve

I would get an I-Tech 200 if you have a "normal" bio-load and don't overfeed. If you think your bio-load will grow and you know that you feed heavy, consider the I-tech 400.
I use the i-Tech 400. Very well made, easy to disassemble and clean, easy cup removal, very quiet.

best reason look at all the poop 1050a

that is a great photo, but i would still look into a swc cone 1a, at 899 they are a bargain for what you get. there is a forum in the sponsor forums for marinesolutions check it out, you wont be disappointed.
