It depends on how much the SPS are a focus. Honestly if the more unusual rare colored SPS like different blue and red varieties are not your goal, a 9010 would be my best recommendation. If you plan on the brighter, tougher to keep color on acros being a focus you need a needle wheel skimmer and it is also advisable to use carbon, phosphate remover and some ozone. If you just want a few montis and the acros that can tolerate a higher nutrient load and keep color like most of the green and purple variants you should be fine with a 9010
Sorry I missed your last post. Yes, we just released a new series of needle wheel skimmers, They are called the Master DOC skimmer. They are rather large though and must go in sump, the 9420 costs a bit more than a 9020 but is stronger, it is much larger though, 19" by 15" would be required.

Would a 9010 be ok for a 120g mixed reef. I want some SPS but will not have a SPS dominated tank. I am looking for a quiet skimmer, and from what I understand this is the quietest skimmer on the market. It is a little more than the needlewheels I was looking at, but it is worth it if there is less noise. Also, the skimmer cup looks small, but I am not going to spend $100 for a bigger cup, would it be ok to drill a hole in the cup for a drain line to a bottle?
The cup holds 700ml, it stops skimming when full. I don't recommend drilling it as you will defeat this feature and regardless the cup needs to be cleaned at a minimum every 2 weeks as the solids that build up in the riser greatly reduce skimming. It is very easy to remove and clean. I think a 9010 would do the job.
