Which Standpipe

yup no reason to buy one - they are way too easy to make! my plumbing is a mix of ridgid pvc, flex pvc, and vinyl tubing

The bottom of my tank is not drilled so my overflow box does not reach the bottam of my tank. So what would be the best way to incorporate this.

Since the picture I have drilled another overflow box making it closer to the rim of the tank so dont worrry about the height level of the box.

Is it really noisy enough to warrant anything? With that setup I would think you'd be fine with nothing.

If it is noisy then I guess you could just put in an elbow pointing down and drill a small for the air on some part of the elbow not submerged (the top)...if there's room for an elbow.

If your bulkhead were a slip on the wet side you could use a street elbow. No need to cement it in since it's on the wet side.

Put an elbow inside the box pointing down. On the outside of the box, put a T such that the bulkhead connects to the "middle" leg of the T. Orient the T such that one leg points up and the other points down.

The leg that points down is the drain to the sump.

On the leg that points up, put a cap with a hole drilled in it. Put some airline in the hole, and a valve on the end to adjust airflow.

This is basically a "through the wall" style durso, and used by many. Pretty much your best choice for a silent standpipe with a small box and a bulkhead on the back/side of the tank.

Pics take time to do...I think der_wille_zur_macht explained it quite well. Take a look at the durso website I posted earlier for how a normal one is done because der_wille_zur_macht said the same basic thing with the only difference being your tank wall is in between the elbow and the vertical part of the stand pipe.

Excuse the shoddy quality. I stole someone else's drawing and junked it up in Paint:
