I got a PB last week and from what i read, they are usually the last tangs because they become super territorial. Are there any other tangs that I can safely add or is the PB gonna go nuts?
Tank size has allot to do with it. What size tank are we talking about here?
Also: Are you going to QT you new fish (highly recommended)? If the PB has only been in there a week, it may be OK, but after a lengthy QT, it may be a different story since the PB has had longer to set up its territory...
Three tangs plus another algae grazer in a 150 gallon tank? No additional tangs.
What happened to these fish?150 gl. 1 foxface, 1 tomini, 1 powder brown and 1 sailfin tang
Per your tank information:
What happened to these fish?
If all you have is a Blue tang and PBT, you can added another tang. Depends on which tang and what size. PBT is a very aggressive fish that should be added last. Which on you have in mind?
I think Sailfin tangs will get too big for a 150.
Reef Central's recommended tank size for a sailfin tang or a hepatus tang is 240 gallons.
Hmmmm. Trying to say this diplomatically.....
Unless you are eating dinner with eachother, and your kids are playing soccer together, remember that it is a business relationship with the LFS owner...
I guarantee you most of the LFS's out there practice that tactic of taking in fish from customers, so they are likely not doing you a big favor. Not to spoil things with you and the LFS owner, but most fish stores will tell you exactly what you want to hear to make a sale. I'm pretty sure most of us here have experienced that. I know my LFS was my 'buddy' as well so I would go to them for all of my aquarium and livestock needs. The kinship quickly ended when I ended up with ich in my tank (I was a newb that trusted my LFS, so I didn't QT, because they said they QT'd already [big mistake]). It was then that I realized that our buddy system depended on me purchasing from his business. I can't completely blame them. I was a newb, and made newb mistakes. At the end of the day, the LFS made money, and I gained experience...
Not all LFSs or owners are like this, but it is a common practice. Listen to your LFS, but do your own independent research BEFORE making a purchase.
No offense intended Man. Just giving you some perspective...
BTW: Are you QT'ing your fish?
