whisker/duncan fustraitions

A few days ago I bought a whisker/duncan coral. After finding a great web site on them i learned they prefer to be placed on a rock, but need to have a stable base otherwise they can tip over when they get larger and that they prefer low-medium current (which confuses me because other sites say medium-strong current). It says they also prefer low lighting, but can be easied into halides (I have halides).

Anyways, my fustraitions are my tank is tall and the original place I was going to put it was at the very bottom under an arch where there is low lighting and low flow, but my tongs won't reach underneither the arch so i've been left trying to find somewhere else to place him. I've since found two places he fits into nicely.

Nook one has low lighting and medium flow, however it's out of site from the front of the tank and i'm not sure if it's the most secure spot for when he gets more top heavey.

Nook two is right smack in the front of the tank, but has a medium- strong current and is more in the view of the halides and is maybe a more secure spot for when he grows.

Can anyone chime in on this coral's preferred current flow and how to ease them into the halides. I assume you just leave the halides on for a little bit each day increasing every day?

They are very adaptable IMO doing best in a high light med flow area and love a good feed.

In the wild they are found from intertidal shallow sun drenched areas to 20m depth.

Yes in the wild these corals are usually found in tide pools and receive a lot of flow. The more flow they have will usually result in longer whiskers. They will do just fine under halides; I have mine about 8" under water and the halide is about 10" above the tank and it is happy as can be there.

i have had mine in just about every spot in my tnk. high flow low flow. high light low light. and have had no problems every where its been.
