White and Yellow Tang

I have seen in random places pictures of Yellow Tangs with blotches of White. I was wondering if this is just a defect or what? They look super unique and I want one!!! Any help?

With few exceptions they are not hybrids, but abberrant color patterns, just like albino specimens or solid black animals. They are more common in areas where they inbreed so the genes are able to show more often.

Really??? That is insane! Have you really seen them for sale for that? or are you just going off of the fact that they are so rare???

That's cool never heard or seen this before. Isn't it funny how the prices sky rocket for fish that technically has defects instead of pure bred specimens like in other animals?

Actually dbabiak18, other animals with aberrant patterns such as reptiles are worth much more money then the normal color phase, look on-line at color morphs of ball pythons, some colors are worth more then $15,000 while a normal ball python can be purchased retail for $20.

Hmmm...doesn't that seem odd though? I mean there is a "stubby clownfish" (or something of that sort) that seems to just have come about because shrinking of the gene pool. It just seems crazy to me that we pay so much for what is technically a mishap or "freak", which probably isn't healthy for the specimen, you know what I mean?

ahh someones been ****ing in the gene Pool j/k
I used to breed Discus and if you ever were lucky enough to find a freak people want to p dollar for it supply in demand or lack of?
