Cool!! It would be neat if you got the other species of temperate Australian boxfish too, hehe. Your tank is big enough.

I will try to get other fish and anemones for cold water

This might be worth checking out. What other additions are you going to try? Shaw's cowfish? You doing fish only?

The color of the boxfish is a little more orange than normal. I believe this is due to the fact that it's been in a tank where the temperature is higher than what it's used to. It should soon be back to it's nice red hue after a couple of weeks in a cold water system. Awsome fish and keep on posting pics!

question:
can i have two whit bar boxfish in the same tank?.....will they fight or kill each other ? please lmk
thanks

they will fight. i had two male white barred and they duked it out for a while...which stresses them out leading to ich or worse. you could have two boxfishes but they will have to be diff sex.

SteveWeast here on RC has a cool water australian tank with the same fish in it. You may want to PM him for info on what you need to look for and can do with your tank.

how do i know which one is female and male is ther something differnt bout them?

The male and female white barred have different hues. The male is more vibrant and got that really white streak across the body. The female has actually a kind of a dull color from what I remember. Steve and I talked about it before and the reason we see the male on the market is because of it's color and it's "marketable." There would probably be less or no demand for the female because simply put it's not as attractive.

The temperature will have to be under 65 degrees....close to 60 would be better. It's going to be tough to keep the water at that temperature if you don't have a chiller especially in southern california.
