White Cysts on Eye

I've got a French grunt in my 120 that I've had for years. Tonight I noticed he has some white cysts on his eye. They look like ich - little grains of sand on both eyes. There are no cysts anywhere else on the fish and everyone else in the tank looks good. Any ideas?

I'll try to grab one when the lights are on tomorrow. it's actually our juvenile Bermuda chub - the wife pointed it out but still can't identify the fish in the tank :lol2:

As requested, here's a really blurry photo of the chub. Fortunately you can see the little white dots on his eye - they're only on the left eye as far as I can tell.

Could be flukes that have reached the eyes, but it sure does look like ich to me.

I don't know whether or not flukes will come out of the eyes if you administer a FW dip, but it might be worth a shot.

Assuming it is ich, I'll probably go with the hypo route. If that's the case, do you think it's okay to wait about two weeks to start? None of the other fish have any symptoms and I'm going out of town next week.

How is the fish behaving otherwise? Any flashing or rapid breathing? When was the last fish added, and was it quarantined?

All the fish in the tank act normal and have a healthy appetite. The last fish added was a slippery dick wrasse in late March/early April. All these fish were quarantined before entering the display and I've add them all for at least a year.

Hmm. If it were me, I would observe for the time being. Sometimes (not always), doing nothing is better than treating for a "problem" that might not exist.

Thanks for the advice. I may just monitor things to see how they progress. I've looked the other fish over several times and can't see any signs of ich or stress.
