White Halo Zoa

Just brought home a zoa I have never seen or heard of before, but before i describe it let me give the background so that no one pulls the "well it's just bleached" line.

About a month ago a local shop i help out at got in some brand new imported corals (wild harvested), among them was a very interesting mini colony of zoa that had a green mouth and skirt, but a brilliant white ring (about 3mm thick) on the head. Assuming these corals were just bleached I set them to acclimate, each time I check them though I saw nothing but growth, new polyps appeared which all had the same exact coloration, a green skirt, a bright, clean, white ring, and a green mouth. Right now I am slowly acclimating them to my tank and will be waiting for them to open up, as soon as possible I will have pictures to share though!

If anyone has any idea what it may be based upon the description let me know!

EDIT: assuming after I post it no one has a name for it, I'm going to call them Evergreen Halos

I didnt see any that matched it, but then again I was checking on my mobile, I'll go ahead and look again now that I have my pc!

Those arent bleached. just a zoanthid with a white ring.

if you can find a name on Zoaid.com cool, if not, just call them zoas.

definitely not bleached. If they were, the whole polyp would be faded. Definitely very cool.

I thought so, regardless of what they are I enjoy them, since i've introduced them to my tank 5 new polyps have popped up so i'm up to like 40

Yeah, if they're reproducing with the ring it's definitely not bleached. They look great. If you ever want to get rid of some, send them my way :fun2:

Well, after a bit of waiting the colors have changed a bit! all the dark green on the head has turned black, with only the skirt staying a green/yellow. I had someone over earlier who said they looked almost exactly like his black hornets! so here's to hoping!
