White spot !!!

So I was talking to one friend about the white spot and how we can cure it in reef tank and my idea was to go fish less run the tank for 6-8 weeks and move the fish to QT and use any treatment method for the fish . And is said the best way is to put any new add in QT no less than a month .

And what he said he told me that this is the old way for treating and his grand father was doing that he is joking . And he said he used a new product call Voogle and this product can kill the white spot in 8 hours and in reef tank so this product will kill The white spot and his coral will be happy with this product in the tank .

So correct me if am wronge if there is any product in the market why we don't all of us just use it and stop using a QT for a month and just put the fish straight in the DT if my corals will be happy with that .

There are only 3 known methods for curing Ick: TTM, Hypo and copper. The fish must be treated in a QT and the DT must be fallow for 72 days.

Your freind has much to learn and probably shouldn't be giving advice of that kind.. Voogle doesn't kill ich. It's a vitamin supplement that is "said" to boost fishes immune system and will do nothing for eliminating the parasite from the fish or the system.

The only way to eliminate ich from a system is proper QT and treatment of all fish in the display and a long fallow period in the display so the parasite can go through it's cycle and die off without having anything to host.

some LFS peeps will try and sell you everything under the sun to cure everything. QT and treatment is the best solution. personally i just feed my fish well, freshwater dip em, and toss em into the tank. ive had issues with ich before and never treated. it seems to just melt away and never come back. remember that these fish have been locked in a bag in the dark and shipped half way around the world most of the time. the #1 killer of fish is stress induced sickness.

I agree. Snake oil does not cure ich. Oh, and white spot is a term associated with freshwater ich which is a completely different biological entity. The saltwater version is ich or more properly cryptocaryon irritans.

Yes sorry for that I am talking about Ich cryptocaryon irritans
But this guy want lession to any one and i am afraid that those

Wouldn't i be able to say the same for Hypo then? since it only work some of the time depending on ich strain and such?

But i think the part where CP only work sometimes is due to people getting from a bad source like ebay for example where it isn't pure.
