My Hawaiin Flame wrasse is becoming a problem. He has been chasing around the other fish in the tank. All that is in there is an algae blenny, slipper goby and and anthias. The anthias is the only fish bigger than the flame wrasse but still he goes after it. There isn't much nipping but the harrassment won't stop. I've had fairy wrasses in the past but never ran into antyhing like this, usually there are very peaceful. Is it just the C. Jordani that is aggresive? Do you think a female would help?

well i have a very docile male flame and the female is usually the aggressor. when i added a larger zooplankton feeder she calmed down. the anthias will likely remain a target since they are direct competitors for food. never kept a slipper goby so i cant speak to that.

In a smaller tank, competition for the same ecological niche can sometimes cause aggression. That is why the anthias is being harassed. A female is unlikely to abate this behavior. I have found that females are often more aggressive than males in some fairy wrasse species.

We have 5 flames in our 220 and they all do great and peaceful. We have a super male, large female and three smaller females.

Like snorvich stated it is probably competition for food. Feed heavier and more often and see if the aggression goes down.

One of my female flames bothers my moorish idol once in a while, but other than that I don't see much aggression from flames.

Yes, I have a harem of flames in my smaller tank and they get along fine. BUT the females are intentionally of different sizes. It has been my experience that the females are more likely to get ornery than the males.
