Who Else Keeps Clams Under PC's?

So I've kept a very nice Derasa under 260 watt PCs in a 55 gallon for almost a year. During that time, there was a substantial amount of growth. My wife and I moved into our new house at the end of February at which time we set up a 125 with 576 watt PCs. Who else here has kept a clam under PC lights?

I kept a blue max under pcs for a year and it grew quite a bit. Had great colors. It was kept about 12 inches from the light

I did this 5 years ago when I was not a very informed reefer.

In retrospect I did everything wrong and still that clam thrived.

It was 2.5-3 inches when I bought it, I never dosed phyto, used b-ionic somewhat randomly. Still it grew and grew

I guess I was lucky

People are probably going to flame me, but since you asked, here is my 4" crocea in my 20H tank under 130w PC lights. It has been in there for 8 months. It is about 2-3" under the suface and I feed the tank one capful of DT phytoplankton 2-3 times a week.

Anyone heard of keeping a crocea under VHO lighting? Plan on keeping it in a 55g tank that will have 3 aquasun lamps and 1 super actinic. will likely keep it in the top 8" from the surface. Any thoughts. Oh yeah Will also have 2 pc lamp at 6500K 500w.

I KNEW THERE HAD TO BE SOME SUCESS STORIES!!! HALELUJIA!!!
Ok, enough of the exicement. Im sure there are other factors. Can anyone tell me what their water chem is? skimming, RO/DI of which I have an RO filter, water flow, ext......... I would like to duplicate your sucess. Bases on the previous posts, I should be ok as long as the clams are close enough to the light which I planned on doing anyway. YYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!

HEY, i'm new to the clam thing.. i was thinking of keeping a clam in my tank... 130w PC's. i was thinking a gold maxima or squasmosa.. can i keep one in there?

i have several squasmosas in my 20 long with lots of corals and all i have is 6 watts per gal and the only thing i did was increas the skimming and the doses of reef plus to help with skimming

i now have a gigas in my 46 bow looks great

Did you not research them first? They need HUGE tanks (they get past 3 feet!) and can get quite sensitive. You should start with an easier clam, and one that won't outgrow your tank overnight.
