Who has really colorful acros under leds?

I've never had trouble with color or growth with LEDs. I have been using them for over 2 years. There is no "better" color. Only different. Some people like the pastels of T5s. I liked the look of metal halide, but I will never go back. For my setup the options you get with LEDs in regards to timers and control, not to mention energy savings and cleaner look far outweigh anything metal halide or T5 has to offer.
Here is my latest vid. I will be upgrading my Sols to Vegas in another week or so.

It looks like he manages to do what most LED owners can't... keep the power turned way down!
I think that may be one of the biggest factors contributing to bad color under LED. You crank the power and there goes your color. The focused lenses of most LEDs seem to exacerbate the problem.

Of u red into it he runs his 100% on 14k 0r 12 for 8 hours a day

That's an awesome tank. Can u post a pic of the LEDs? And brand combination and light duration please? Also intensitys

Pretty please :)

I love the look of many of these led pictures. But don't you guys find it challenging to accurately reproduce color in the images. I think the FTS above is stunning, but am I way off base or is that a purple sohal tang.

I have a metal halide tank that I find reasonably easy to white balance the color to actual but in my frag tank with LED"S, I have given up taking photos because of the weird colors even with all white lights. Perhaps it is just my lack of photo skills.

I have in total 16 fixtures

4 120watt Apollo Dimmable 2 Gen
4 120watt Ebay Chinese knocks offs multicolor dimmable
3 120watt AquariumLeds.com - I think they went out of business
1 120Watt AJM Led bought from someone that dunked it and repaired it
4 48" magenta/blue stunner strips 96 watt total

I will swap out the AquaruimLeds.com/AJM with the 120 watt Chinese knock offs this summer

It could be your monitor... It looks gray to me. I do run magenta stunner strips in the front where the color does reflect off of the fish and does give it a redish/purplish color, however that is not linear in the entire 8 foot thank. I have recently adjusted my spectrum and need to calibrate it for WB. I usually use a white piece of PVC.

Any info on duration and intensity please?

Now first of TDB has an amazing looking tank. That corals from the pic look very colorful. But it also shows that to get the proper coverage you are putting in almost the same if not more wattage of led as you would need other light source. He has a total of 1536W of led over an 8 foot tank. You could easly light this tank and grow just as good if not better corals with T5 say at most 1080W of t5 or 4 250w metal halides with the right reflectors you might even get away with 3x250w. Also what is not stated and to me is key, is how long has led been over this tank. Heck there was a recent ReefB...ders post about have a coverage issue with led and he put back on his metal halide the issue was fixed.

I totally agree that coverage and the bending of light are 100 % the issue. Just because I have all of those watts doesn't mean that I use all of them. For example I ramp up and ramp down. I run the blues at 75% and whites at 50%. I never peek. Secondarily, With T5's the total cost to deal with the bulbs and ballasts and with MH well the heat and bulb cost Plus the T5 supplementation. For me commodity led fixtures are the way to go. I wont disagree that the Best coloration that I have seen are from MH but with cheep LEDS my colors are looking good and the reduction in costs are worth the leap.

BTW this tank has always been under LED since the beginning and originally I only had 4 120 watt fixtures. It was the tanks 1 year anniversary a couple weeks ago. You may view the entire build or R 2 R.

People like you crack me up. Who cares how many lights or watts he's using, it's his choice. You'll still try and twist in some sort of way to try and say something negative or get your last word in about MH or T5's. I'd be willing to wager his tank looks 10x better than your tank does now under MH or T5's. I don't know why people can't just admit a tank looks awesome under LEDs with no backhand comments involved.

Was this tank started from scratch with LEDs? Or another light source? My apologes if i missed this info somewhere earlier.
If not started with LED, how long have the LEDs been running?
