who has the biggest sps colony

probably CWARD's millepora or deepsea (??) I think it is has a few HUGE efflo's.

CWARD's tank is not up anymore from my understanding so probably those efflo's are the biggest I've seen on this board lately. THere is probably some people with big montis though.

While mine is certainly not the biggest, I have a "Supernatural Montipora" (encrusting) that I have in the center of my tank. It is about 1/2 the size of a basketball. I have had it for years growing from a frag the size of a quarter.

I plopped it on a rock and it took over the rock by itself with no competition. It survived a tank crash and it is obvious based on the size versus all of my other corals.

I'll get a pic up tonight.

Better late than never I guess.

You can judge the size by the Vortechs on the back glass.

The second is a closeup.

Ummm? Maybe 5-6 years? It may have been longer. I can't really remember, but around that timeframe. It started out as a frag the size of a quarter when I got it.

It survived a move to countless tanks, two tank crashes. One crash was renovating my family room and I pretty much wiped out most of my SPS with drywall dust. This coral is bulletproof. I have also fragged it a number of times over the years as it ran out of rock to grow on long ago.

Well since you asked for big, and not pretty, this is 'Big Ugly' (b/c it's big, and it's ugly):

A. microphthalma

probably a full meter across, and 18 - 20" tall. and before anyone gives any guff, it's 7' from the lights, that's why it's brown.

Judging by JD's picture, signature and avatar, it looks like he may be a curator at a private marine world/aquarium.

So, there may not be a shadow at all on this one.

Anywho, that is still freakin' huge!

Not the curator, but I do have some large coral exhibits, and no, no shadows
