here is my 15yr captive female ocellaris, w/ 3yr captive male. Lost other due to a jump.
She is absolutely gigantic at 4 or a little over inches long. I've never seen a bigger female ocellaris than her.

I love the last picture, Austin...it really emphasizes how huge she is.

Congrats, she's a gorgeous clown. I hope mine make it that long...

Thanks,
It's funny cause she could basically stick his whole head in her mouth if she wanted too.
I have been trying to get a pic of my 5yr old true percs all night. But the rose they live in decided to split, so its hiding under the rocks, and they decided they want to hide under the rocks until it comes out.

i have a true perc that came in full grown WC and ive had for for 4 years. her mate is about a year old black occ captive bred.
heres a pretty bad pic from a while ago.

I have a ocellaris that is almost seven years old. Shes never had a mate or a true anemone to host in however my large hairy shrooms have kept it happy in the nano. That has been its home for all those years since I have been responsible for her care.

<~~~~Pics over there sorry its so small

I'll tell you, the maroons I mentioned above(>28 years old) are huge. The female is the size of a horse...has to be about 6" long and the male looks like one of the largest females I've ever seen...yes, the male is bigger than most females even at fully grown!!!!

hey cschweitzer do you think you could take a pic and post it up for us to see? would be cool to see a pair that old.

thanks
Mark

my female A. occelaris is also over 4 inches, and about 5 years old. when any sees her they are amazed at her size she absolutely dwarfs the male(2 inches). ill put a pic up later it is easiest the largest clown i have ever seen in person anywhere.

14+ year old Ocellaris

14+ year old Ocellaris

My A. Ocellaris is 14+ years. I say that because while I've had it 12 years now, it came with a used tank that I bought and the previous owner had it a couple years, and it came from someone else before that who had it some length of time in addition. And it was wild caught back then. It's about 3.5 to 4 inches long and as mean as she (I'm assuming it's a she) can be. Has over the years turned a bit dark in color on her back as she's aged. Now she bites me any time I put my hand in the tank, and had learned to do it on the soft part of my wrist where it can get a nice bite in.

Question, since mine is a loner now, and has been for 12+ years, is it too late to introduce another Ocellaris? Anyone have any experience with introducing a new clown to a much older existing clown?

I knew they would live 15 to 20, even up to 30+ years, but I have a hard time imagining having a fish for that long.

That must be my FW experience talking...Tetra's just don't live this long...lol

Re: 14+ year old Ocellaris

You should not have any problem introducing another clown to the tank as long as you find a real small juvenile to put in with her. It's been done with my female after she lost her mate.
