Who is using Reeftech LED?

I saw the original post too, and subscribed to this topic to read the followup. Sounded like something horrible happened, either with the actual product or with customer service.
He sounds like somebody try make Comedy Central here.....
It's a shame what's going on every forum he advertise for free...
I just wonder if he use the same camera for picture he posting on the forums lately....

Sorry you have to look at this BS. The only question is how many more accounts he has......
And ........ change your date on your camera.

Just prove my point of excellent customer service:
http://www.reeftechled.com/?page_id=423
So the question is:
What's happen to people who owns older version of those lamps?
It's only way have working software ,to trade in my old one for the v2012?
When your customer can expect update software for old lamps as was promised to me(2011)?
And why is no company address on the website?
Where Inc... is register?
In different country or Internet only?

Great question...anyone that claims they have a par value from an led light containing more than just white leds..is not telling the truth or just not well informed.

Go to the vivid aquariums website..they have a link on there to their led vs mh tank experiment thread. On that they have a link to a letter from Apogee..the manufacture of the most popular PAR meeter.

The letter states that only white leds will give a accurate PAR reading on their meters. Blue are off by 30%..and that depends on what blue your talking about...red and green will not even register on the meter.

so just because the par meter is not picking it up doesn't mean the par is not there..it just means that current par meter are unable and not calibrated to capture all wavelengths of par.

you have to have a spectrometer to do this..im not an expert..but those sound expensive.

I'm not quite sure where you heard this, but it's not true.

http://www.apogeeinstruments.com/manuals/MQ-100_200_300manual.pdf

Page 2 has the spectral performance of their quantum meter.

The graph clearly shows that it is inefficient at measuring anything under roughly 450 nm, as you stated, but it does work fine from 450 through 660 nm (turquoise, green, red, orange, yellow, etc).

And just a little FYI: white light is a composition of many, many wavelengths, the Kelvin temp of which is dependent upon the ratio of those wavelengths. So to say that apogee's meter is only capable of measuring white light is false.

It's rather simple to calculate PAR with LED's as long as you can measure each color emitter separately, know it's wavelength, and can reference the spectral performance plot. It's just a matter of applying the correction value from the plot to your measurement, then summing up the measurements for each individual wavelength measured.

gbru316 well explained Ty.
Your knowledge about LEDs very good.
I have question for you.
By lowering voltage going to LEDs what can happen with quality light for Corals?
Large amount of Green algae growth in the tank -LED Quality can have something to do with this?

Do you mean lowering current? We are more concerned with current than voltage when working with LED's.

Lowing the current will only lower the intensity of light. There should be little to know spectral shift of each emitter, but if using a broad spectrum lighting array, you could shift the perceived spectrum simply because the output vs current curves of each LED can vary.

I would be apprehensive to attribute algae growth to spectrum or light quality (unless using a large amount of emitters in the orange/yellow/red bands). I am more willing to attribute algae growth to excess nutrients/improper husbandry.

I am using 5 of the 2012. I enjoy them and also enjoy using my iPad to control them. Yes the software availability to date has been slow, but that will all change as the company grows.

It is by far the nicest light available on the market today.

Good evening everyone,

I am not sure what got everyone so up in arms with the previous management here at Reef Tech, but it must stop with me. I am sorry if the other management was not great at the business aspects. I saw the potential in the products and like many of you was a bit frustrated with some issues. I made a quick decision, so here we are.

I am changing the entire companies legal status, addresses, shipping, and distribution methods are changing so your point is invalid about what I need to show etcetera. I am legally within my rights as a new business to makes the changes such as posting addresses within reasonable time after the changing of hands. The entire website will be rebuilt shortly and you will see the changes you so desperately find the need to point out. If you are interested in coming for a visit and simply cannot wait for the newly designed pages please email me at Reef Tech and we can setup a meeting at my temporary location until my new building is completed. I would also ask that you cease and desist these constant attempts at harassment online; it's silly. If you have nothing positive to say or at least constructive criticism then perhaps less is more. I am not sure what your issues are with the previous management here, but please be aware they are not with me, nor are they with the products I now produce. If you have issues please contact me via the website, I will do what I can to help correct any past problems. Please be aware I do have every bit of correspondence between several of the people on here and the previous owners. So please take notice I will not continue to allow online threats via email or via these forums. Again, I am sorry for whatever issues took place in the past and I can only be responsible for the actions moving forward.

I hope everyone will be happy to know that the management change will allow Reef Tech to be competitive in the marketplace and to continue to design new products, all while excelling at customer service.

Poly Reef - I will be working on fixing your issues regarding Apple product compatibility on the 2011 units within the next 90 days. Some units may require an add-on piece but nothing out of this world. Please be patient, as many of you are aware I have lots of issues to correct here.

MK- I took the time to read your threads and numerous posts praising Reef Tech lights. I am not sure what happened but it appears you sold your lamps due to some issues in your tank. I hope whatever you're using now works well for you.

I have sent in the request to become a sponsor on Reef Central so until then all my posts and threads will be regarding my personal tank project. All issues related to Reef Tech need to be addressed to me through the website. I will not again mention Reef Tech or its products in any threads until such a time that it is allowed by the administrative team here.

I appreciate everyones support moving forward. I really hope those who have issues will come to me via email so I can at least try to correct them.

Thanks.

Thank you for giving us information about your new company.
As you mentioned Me in this post I really appreciate your offer.
Unfortunately my lamps made by old reef Tech Inc. doesn't provide me with affects I was expecting in my tank. I don't want them and I don't need them.
And changing to Apple computer doesn't change the way the lamps work.
I wish you the best with the new business. You seems more imaginable and reasonable than the previous person I was dealing with. what it comes to the old older manager-owner.He is still responsible for his action. and I am sure you are not going to do business the same way.I just hope something good come out from that. if you are willing to settle this problem please send me a RC private email
Happy reefing my friends.

Very exciting stuff...when u say new buildings. Are u going to be manufacturing them in the states now or are they still going to coming from Poland?

Ryan,
I am following your build thread...very nice. Regarding Reeftech's announcement and your statement above: Admirable !!! I applaud anyone trying to improve on overall customer satisfaction. Reputation and customer service distinguishes a company from being okay/good to being great/reliable/trustworthy....which all translates to larger sales and repeat customers etc. I myself have had a good relationship/experience with Reef tech so I only expect things to get better. Good luck to you and the company, I look forward to future dealings and keep the pics coming on your tank build.
Frank
